Ubuntu Certified Professional

LPI assists other Open Source organization in the development and delivery of certification programs. This includes the Ubuntu Certified Professional exams which LPI offers through Prometric and VUE testing centres and through paper-based tests at special exam events.

In 2006, Canonical Ltd. and LPI jointly developed and announced the Ubuntu Certified Professional certification program.

The Ubuntu certification consists of a single exam on top of LPI's existing 101 and 102 exams. This will give candidates the advantage of an existing global standard, LPIC-1, plus the “Ubuntu Certified Professional” status.

The exam is available worldwide through Prometric and Pearson VUE testing centres and as a paper-based tests at special events. The exam price has been set at $100 US, however discounts are available at special exam events and through the Ubuntu community.

Candidates interested in obtaining status as an Ubuntu Certified Professional will first need to obtain LPIC-1. For information on taking LPI exams or the Ubuntu Certified Professional exam please see "Procedure for Taking Exams" article in the FAQ section of the LPI website. This will provide information on how to register for exams with Prometric or VUE and list upcoming events at which the Ubuntu exam may be offered. Please check LPI's home page regularly for announcements of exam labs where the Ubuntu exam will be offered.
