DESCRIPTION:June 22-26\, 2026\nNew York City\, United States\nUnited Nations Headquarters\n\nLinux Professional Institute (LPI) is proud to partner with the United Nations for Open Source Week 2026\, a global forum for dialogue and collaboration on open source\, digital public infrastructure\, and innovative solutions to global challenges. \nSince its inception in 2023\, UN Open Source Week has become a significant international gathering reflecting strong demand for UN-led forums on open source and digital cooperation. \nLPI Co-Organizer of the UN Tech Over Hackathon \nLPI is co-organizing the UN Tech Over Hackathon on June 22\, 2026 at UN Headquarters\, bringing together 150+ global developers\, technologists\, and innovators to build impactful\, scalable open source solutions to high-priority global issues identified by UN entities. \nThe hackathon is organized in cooperation with private sector and civil society partners\, with the goal of strengthening existing tools and contributing to the Global Digital Compact. This demonstrates how collaborative\, open digital ecosystems can drive real-world change. \nOpen Call: Mentors\, Judges\, and Volunteers \nThe UN Tech Over Hackathon is seeking: \n\nMentors: Provide guidance\, technical advice\, and encouragement to participating teams (in person and online)\nJudges: Evaluate final submissions and help select winning projects\nOn-site Volunteers: Offer expertise and engagement during hackathon sessions (in person and online)\n\nTechnology expertise is required for mentor and judge roles. \nLPI Endorses UN Open Source Principles \nLPI has endorsed the UN Open Source Principles\, guidelines adopted by the UN Chief Executive Board’s Digital Technology Network to promote collaboration and adoption of open source technologies within the UN and globally.
