Toronto, 09-19-2024 \u2013 In a landmark meeting at the OSPOs for Good<\/a> event at the United Nations Headquarters in New York City, the Open Source Initiative<\/a> (OSI) and the Linux Professional Institute<\/a> (LPI) confirmed a strategic alliance aimed at strengthening Linux and Open Source communities by nurturing the growth of more highly skilled professionals. This initiative addresses the growing demand for employability from both public and private organizations worldwide.<\/p>\n

In addition to creating the Open Source Definition<\/a> and certifying Open Source licenses to ensure they meet the requirements of Open Source software, OSI carries out many educational and outreach efforts to spread Open Source principles.<\/p>\n

In the agreement, LPI and OSI will collaborate on technical education projects that increase professional growth in the areas of Linux and Open Source technologies.<\/p>\n

LPI’s professional certification and education programs will be enhanced by OSI, both by encouraging members of the public to get these certifications and by participating in development and maintenance of these programs.<\/p>\n

On a financial level, those served by LPI and OSI will benefit by receiving discounts and exclusive opportunities.<\/p>\n

More generally, the organizations will collaborate on initiatives that strengthen the Linux and Open Source software ecosystem.<\/p>\n
