While I was growing up, computers felt like a distant dream. Technology was not a priority in my household, and I got my first PC much later than my peers. What I did have was curiosity, and no shortage of it. Once I had access to a computer, I tinkered with hidden settings and options that other people were afraid to touch. Naturally, this occasionally used to crash the operating system. My family was not thrilled the day I turned our only computer into an expensive paperweight and had to figure out how to bring it back to life\u2026<\/p>\n

Everything was Windows\u2026<\/h2>\n

Back then, everything was Windows. I had zero exposure to Linux. What I did have was the local cybercaf\u00e9, where I went to play Counter-Strike, and the owner, who fascinated me more than the game did. Every time I broke something, he arrived like a tech superhero, opened that \u00ab\u00a0black screen\u00a0\u00bb, and typed mysterious commands. The moment he walked away, I would dive in to try to replicate the magic.<\/p>\n

The Motorhome Turning Point<\/h2>\n

The definitive turn came years later. My partner and I decided to change our lives completely: we moved into a motorhome, in a different country. Living off-grid forces you to become resourceful with technology in ways an office job never would. I had to manage our own network connections, keep systems running, and make sure our infrastructure was stable on the move.
\nThat experience was a wake-up call. It reawakened the tech enthusiast I had been as a kid and made me understand that systems and infrastructure were not a hobby: they were my true direction. I chose to formalize this path. I built a bridge from my administrative background to courses on technology and digital modernization. That stepping stone led me straight to where I am today: knowledge vetted by the LPI Linux Essentials<\/a> certificate, building my own projects, and eager to keep growing.<\/p>\n

Building a Portfolio<\/h2>\n

The project I am most proud of is my personal web portfolio, ngp-solution.com. What started as a plan to host a simple online CV quickly turned into an interactive sandbox where I could get my hands dirty and practise what I was learning. I decided to take a risk and build something more challenging: a simulated Ubuntu Server command-line interface (CLI), running on JavaScript.<\/p>\n

To move faster, I used AI as a development companion. Not to write code for me, but to keep me from setting anything on fire and to make sure I actually understood the logic behind every line. There is no feeling quite like hitting that final Enter, watching your code come to life, and seeing a system start up and actually work right.<\/p>\n

But Why LPI?<\/h2>\n

I chose LPI over a lengthy university degree because the market I want to enter demands real, hands-on, provable skills from day one. A five-year degree offers broad theory. I wanted a direct, efficient path aligned with what the industry actually needs. And there is no better way to build rock-solid foundations in infrastructure than with the Linux Professional Institute, given its reputation.<\/p>\n

To prepare, I enrolled in the official NDG course through the Cisco Networking Academy, and complemented it with hands-on labs on my own home server. Real hardware, real mistakes, real learning.<\/p>\n

Linux and the Cloud: Two Sides of the Same Coin<\/h2>\n

I see cloud computing and Linux as two sides of the same coin. The cloud is not an abstract concept: the vast majority of the global infrastructure powering AWS, Google Cloud, and Azure runs on Linux. To become a proficient cloud professional, you have to master the operating system that breathes life into it.<\/p>\n

My path is strategic. I am forging my foundations with LPI Linux Essentials because I know it will give me the baseline I need for the next step, which is the AWS Certified Cloud Practitioner certification. Linux is the indispensable gateway to the cloud.<\/p>\n

What Ten Years Taught Me<\/h2>\n

There is a saying I keep coming back to: the path is made by walking. In more than ten years of professional experience across different fields, my curiosity has been the engine. Today, all those diverse life experiences have become tools. They let me communicate with clients, understand what they actually need, and approach problems with a wider perspective.<\/p>\n

Most importantly, they taught me the value of what I call the necessary pause: the composure to stay calm in the middle of technical chaos, analyse the situation, and find the right solution. That professional maturity is not something you learn in a course. It is something you cultivate. I consider it as essential to a career in IT as any technical skill.<\/p>\n

What\u2019s Next?<\/h2>\n

I am currently living in Alicante, Spain. My short-term goal is to break into the local or international IT job market: Helpdesk, Technical Support, or Junior Linux SysAdmin. Remote work makes the world larger, and I am ready to take advantage of that. After LPI Linux Essentials, the plan is AWS, then to keep building the bridge between traditional systems and modern cloud infrastructure.<\/p>\n

\u2026 And I Am Not (Just) Nerding!<\/h2>\n

When I am not in front of a screen, I love building and connecting with nature. I live in the mountains, which makes unplugging easy. Outside the terminal I am a different kind of nerd: I am a certified electrician from Argentina, and a carpenter by hobby. So instead of breaking code, I break wood, cutting, assembling, and building things from scratch. I am also very social. I love time with friends, sports (football especially: being Argentine, it is mandatory!), music, and hikes. Above all, I love time and adventures with my partner.
\nThe path is made by walking. I plan to keep walking.<\/p>\n
