Join<\/span> FOSSCOMM 2026<\/span><\/a>, the annual in-person gathering for Greece\u2019s free and open source software (FOSS) community, in Athens from October 31 to November 1, 2026, and receive a 20% discount on Linux Professional Institute (LPI) exams.<\/span><\/p>\n

Running since 2008, FOSSCOMM is a free, volunteer-driven FOSS event that brings together IT professionals, academics, students, teachers, and people who are new to open source. The event provides a space for the Greek open source community to share knowledge, discuss open technologies, and connect with others.<\/span><\/p>\n

LPI has a long-standing connection with the open source community in Greece and works with local organizations on Linux and FOSS education and skills development. LPI actively collaborates with partners including <\/span>GreekLUG <\/span><\/a>(Greek Association of Free Software \/ Open Source Software Users) and the Open Technologies Alliance (<\/span>GFOSS<\/span><\/a>).<\/span><\/p>\n

In 2025, LPI and GFOSS signed a <\/span>Memorandum of Understanding (MoU)<\/span><\/a> on preparing learners in Greece for open source careers through integrated curriculum and certification programs in Linux and FOSS. The partnership is creating opportunities for learners to develop practical skills and earn internationally recognized certifications.<\/span><\/p>\n

Meet LPI at FOSSCOMM 2026<\/h4>\n

Visit Sonia Ben Othman<\/a>, LPI\u2019s Development Partnership Representative, at the LPI booth to learn more about LPI\u2019s collaboration with GFOSS to promote Linux and open source skills development and career opportunities in Greece. Sonia will be avilable to discuss how students can benefit from LPI certifications<\/a> and how universities can collaborate with LPI through the Academic Partner Program<\/a>. The collaboration offers educational institutions opportunities to integrate industry-relevant skills and internationally recognized certifications into their programs, helping prepare students for careers in Linux and open source.<\/p>\n

The 20% exam discount gives FOSSCOMM participants a chance to earn an LPI certification and take the next step in their open source careers.<\/p>\n

Savvas Adamtziloglou<\/a> from GreekLUG will also be at FOSSCOMM 2026.<\/p>\n
