Linux Essentials meets Computer Science Teachers Association K-12 standards

(Los Angeles, CA, USA: February 21, 2013) The Linux Professional Institute (LPI), the world's premier Linux certification organization, announced that its Linux Essentials program which measures foundational knowledge in Linux and Open Source Software has met the requirements of the K-12 Computer Science Standards of the Computer Science Teachers Association (CSTA: http://www.csta.acm.org/). The CSTA has 41 chapters throughout North America and members in 126 countries worldwide.

 

Linux Essentials Update: SCALE11x, Birmingham City University-UK and Cebit 2013

LPI participates in CeBIT 2013 Poland Partner Events

(Sacramento, CA, USA: February 6, 2013)  The Linux Professional Institute (LPI), the world's premier Linux certification organization, announced its participation at CeBIT 2013, March 5-9, 2013 (Hannover, Germany). During the conference, LPI representatives will present on the subject of advancing IT workforce development in Linux and Open Source, specifically during the conference's activities for CeBIT's Partner Country of Poland. CeBIT has a 20+ year history as one of the world's largest conferences and trade shows for IT and telecommunications solutions and LPI has been a regular participant for several years.

LPI Certification Exams Exceed 350,000 Worldwide

(Sacramento, CA, USA: January 31, 2013) The Linux Professional Institute (LPI), the world's premier Linux certification organization, announced that in 2012 the organization surpassed two significant milestones: delivering over 350,000 exams and 120,000 certifications worldwide since the organization's inception.

LPI revises LPIC-2 and LPIC-3 certification programs

(Sacramento, CA, USA: January 24, 2013) The Linux Professional Institute (LPI), the world's premier Linux certification organization (http://www.lpi.org), announced upcoming changes to their LPIC-2 and LPIC-3 certification programs. New objectives for these certifications are presently under development. New exams will be available in English on October 1, 2013 with local translations and pricing TBA.

Linux Professional Institute Hosts Exam Labs at SCALE 11x

(Sacramento, CA, USA: January 17, 2012) The Linux Professional Institute (LPI), the world's premier Linux certification organization, announced promotional exam labs for their Linux Professional Institute Certification (LPIC) at SCALE 11x at the Hilton Los Angeles International Airport Hotel, Los Angeles, California on February 24, 2013. This is the fourth year LPI has participated as a certification sponsor of SCALE.

LPI Expands Training Partner Program in 2012

(Sacramento, USA: December 18, 2012) The Linux Professional Institute (LPI), the world's premier Linux certification organization, announced that in 2012 they grew their training partner program to include 322 participating organizations (up more than 5% from just over 300 partners in 2011). Most significant was that LPI added seven new training organizations in North America in 2012.  LPI has training partners in over 50 countries around the world.

LPI Applauds UN Organization Report

(Sacramento, CA, USA: November 29, 2012) The Linux Professional Institute (LPI), the world's premier Linux certification organization, applauds the release of the flagship report "The Information Economy Report 2012: The Software Industry and Developing Countries" by the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD).

The report provides specific recommendations on Free and Open Source Software (FOSS) for national policy makers and includes two examples of the value of LPI's training and certification programs for ICT development.

LPI Recognizes Linux Essentials' Volunteers

(Sacramento, CA, USA: November 21, 2012) The Linux Professional Institute (LPI), the world's premier Linux certification organization, announced volunteer awards for Anselm Lingnau of Linup Front, Weiterstadt, Germany and Michael Gisbers of Linux-Schmie.de, Oberhausen, Germany in recognition of their contributions and commitment to LPI's Linux Essentials program. The two volunteers were amongst 70 Linux professionals and 56 IT organizations and academic institutions who assisted in the exam development process for Linux Essentials (http://lpi.org/linux-certifications/introductory-programs/linux-essentials).
