Amsterdam\u2019s Edutech Europe<\/a> 2023 was a whirlwind of innovation, collaboration, and insights into the world of education technology. The purpose of this conference is to promote dialogue and collaboration between educators and computer developers who aim products at education.<\/p>\n

Over the course of the event, I had the privilege of attending several talks and panels, each more enlightening than the previous one. The convergence of minds from various educational spheres made this conference an invaluable networking opportunity, and I couldn\u2019t help but feel inspired by the visionaries shaping the future of learning.<\/p>\n

Fostering Shared Understandings<\/h2>\n

Sibylle Harth, Director of Technology at the International School of D\u00fcsseldorf<\/a>, touched upon the importance of bridging the gap between schools and parents. The rapidly evolving landscape of technologies such as AI and quantum computing necessitates a combined effort. To truly embrace the opportunities and navigate the challenges of such advancements, a shared understanding and collaborative effort between educators and parents are vital.<\/p>\n

Redefining Learning Experiences<\/h2>\n

In another enriching panel, experts from iSpring Solutions<\/a>, Heart Of Worcestershire College<\/a>, and the Technological University of the Shannon: Midlands Midwest<\/a>, among others, deliberated on the potential of hybrid learning. The emphasis on reliable IT networks and engaging teaching methodologies emphasized the significance of a seamless learning journey.<\/p>\n

Pedtech: The Future of Learning<\/h2>\n

A particularly engaging discussion centered on the ‘pedtech<\/a> revolution.’ The panelists, including Al Kingsley from NetSupport Limited<\/a> and Laurie Forcier from the International Society for Technology in Education (ISTE)<\/a>, shed light on the importance of integrating pedagogical values when deciding on emerging technologies.<\/p>\n

\u2026 What About FOSS?<\/h2>\n

Being at EduTech Europe with my LPI hat, I hope that the importance and potential of free and open source software are recognized more with each subsequent edition of events like Edutech Europe. The limitless possibilities of open-source solutions in the education sector remain vast, and I eagerly await the day when they are integral to every educational institution’s tech arsenal.<\/p>\n

After all, while Microsoft was, along with Lego, Title Sponsor of this edition, Microsoft itself is also giving tutorials about how to install Linux<\/a>, which induces feelings in me somewhere between amusement and incredulity.<\/p>\n

Until the next edition, I remain hopeful and inspired, looking forward to more groundbreaking innovations in the world of education technology.<\/p>\n
