LPI Welcomes New Board Members

Toronto, 2025-07-11 — Linux Professional Institute (LPI) announces the formation of its new Board of Directors, constituted at the inaugural meeting held on July 10. Four new Members and one returning Member, elected at the Annual General Meeting (AGM) on June 21, joined their colleagues to begin their term of service and guide the organization’s mission to support open source professionals worldwide.

The new Board Members are:

Simone Davide “Simo” Bertulli (based in Italy) – Simone is a cybersecurity professional with over eight years of experience in the energy and telecom sectors. He is an LPI blog contributor, tech course reviewer, and has been an LPI Approved Trainer since 2024.

Henrietta Dombrovskaya (based in the USA) – A database researcher and practitioner for over 40 years, Henrietta is a Free and Open Source Software (FOSS) advocate, educator, and donor. She is also a PostgreSQL expert and the author of “PostgreSQL Query Optimization.”

Werner Fischer (based in Austria) – A passionate Linux user for over 20 years, Werner is the first LPI Approved Trainer in Austria and has published over 1,000 articles in the Thomas-Krenn-Wiki. He also co-founded the Thomas-Krenn Linux User Group to promote FOSS and Linux education within the company where he currently works.

Tiago Felipe Goncalves (based in the Netherlands) – Tiago is a Senior Network Engineer with 24 years of experience in Linux, open source, and network infrastructure. He holds over 44 certifications, including the full LPI track, and promotes FOSS through large-scale solutions, mentorship, and global community involvement.

Ricardo Prudenciato (based in Brazil) was re-elected to the Board of Directors, continuing his contributions as a returning Member. His renewed term allows him to continue building on his previous work supporting the LPI community and advancing the organization’s mission globally.

Uirá Ribeiro serves as Chair of the Board of Directors. Other Board Members include Brian Clemens (Vice-Chair), Jon “maddog” Hall (Chair Emeritus), Jill Ratkevic, Dorothy Gordon, Klaus Knopper, Michinori Nakahara, Ted Matsumura, and Thiago Sobral.

Evan Leibovitch and Dan York in the Hall of Fellows

Linux Professional Institute also honored two important figures in its history. Evan Leibovitch and Dan York, who helped establish the organization 25 years ago, were inducted into the Hall of Fellows in recognition of their lasting contributions to the FOSS community.

About the Elections

Elections for the Board of Directors are held annually at the AGM, giving LPI Members a unique opportunity to guide the organization’s direction and mission “to promote the use of open source by supporting the people who work with it.”

LPI Board Members bring diverse expertise and global perspectives that help the Linux Professional Institute strengthen its support for open source professionals, expand its certifications and community programs globally, and uphold transparency in its operations.
