LPI Introduces Its 2026–2027 Board of Directors

Toronto, 2026-07-15 —Linux Professional Institute (LPI) is excited to announce that its new Board of Directors was formally constituted at the inaugural meeting held last week. Following the announcement of election results at the Annual General Meeting (AGM) on June 20, four newly elected directors joined the Board to begin their terms of service and guide the organization’s mission to support open source professionals worldwide.

The elected board members are:

André Bermudes Casagrande
André Casagrande is a technology professional with extensive experience in Linux, open technologies, and enterprise infrastructure. Throughout his career, he has been deeply involved in designing and implementing modern IT platforms based on open source technologies across a range of industries, including financial services, manufacturing, and the public sector.

Simone Davide “Simo” Bertulli (re-elected)
Simone is a cybersecurity professional with more than nine years of experience in the energy and telecom sectors. He is an LPI blog contributor and tech course reviewer, and has been an LPI Approved Trainer since 2024.

Sean Davis
Sean Davis has contributed to Xubuntu, Xfce, and the broader Ubuntu ecosystem since 2012, becoming an Ubuntu Member in 2013, an Xubuntu Technical Lead in 2014, and a founding member of the Xubuntu Council in 2017. Sean has authored and maintained applications that have shipped on millions of Linux desktops, including Catfish, MenuLibre, Mugshot, LightDM GTK+ Greeter, Parole, Xfce Screensaver, and many others. People in this community know Sean as “bluesabre.”

Michinori Nakahara (re-elected)
Michinori Nakahara spent over 33 years at IBM Japan in various leadership positions, specializing in the Asia-Pacific region. He also served as Chief Training Officer for a Tokyo-based open source software start-up. Having worked in Japan, studied in both Japan and the United States, and worked closely with US and European IT companies, he brings a unique and varied perspective to the Linux and open source community as a director on LPI’s board.

At the Annual General Meeting (AGM), Board Chair Uirá Ribeiro acknowledged the service of the outgoing directors and welcomed the newly elected directors. He thanked all the LPI staff, Members, Partners, volunteers, and supporters for contributing to the success of the organization.

LPI Executive Director G. Matthew Rice presented major findings from the 2025 Annual Review, highlighting the organization’s key achievements and developments during the year.
