Linux Essentials Version 2.0 Beta Phase Concludes

Toronto, 09-28-2026 – On September 15, the beta phase for the new Version 2.0 of the Linux Essentials exam ended.

„Interest was enormous, and the result was a success in every respect,“ summarizes Fabian Thorns, Director of Product Development at LPI. „The beta phase demonstrated just how important the Linux Essentials exam is, particularly in the educational sector. With the update to Version 2.0, the exam once again reflects the current state of system administration with Linux.“

„We are now looking forward to the release of 2.0, especially because, along with the exam, we will also be able to offer the completely revised edition of our Learning Materials on learning.lpi.org — and in multiple languages,“ adds Markus Wirtz, Senior Product Manager at LPI.

In addition to Pearson OnVUE’s online service, some candidates also took advantage of events hosted by selected LPI academic partners to take the beta exam under the supervision of an LPI-certified proctor — for example, at HTL Leonding (Austria).

The release of Linux Essentials Version 2.0 is scheduled for mid-October. Members of the public can view the objectives.
