Toronto, 2025-09-11 — The Agence Universitaire de la Francophonie (AUF), a global network of universities and research institutions, is promoting the careers of 400 students by providing them with Linux Essentials exam vouchers from the Linux Professional Institute (LPI).
These vouchers are being distributed through AUF’s Francophone Employability Centers and Francophone Digital Campuses in 18 cities across 15 countries.
“This initiative was part of our 2021–2025 strategy to help students find employment. We believe that professional certification will help them advance their careers,” says Driss Sayah, Innovation and Partnership Advisor at AUF.
G. Matthew Rice, Executive Director of Linux Professional Institute, says, “Our mission is to promote the use of open source by supporting the people who work with it. Partnering with AUF to provide Linux Essentials vouchers to students helps them start meaningful, open source-driven careers.”
The Linux Essentials certificate serves as a great introduction to the more complete and advanced Linux Professional certification track. Whether someone is starting their open source career or looking for advancement, independently verifying their skills with the certificate helps them stand out to hiring managers.
The Linux Essentials exam is available in multiple languages, including French. Free LPI Learning Materials are also available in French and can be read or downloaded at learning.lpi.org.
As part of the agreement, Linux Professional Institute has already trained center managers on how to organize exam sessions online. The exam vouchers are available for those who have finished their training and are ready to take the exam.
AUF and LPI have a long-standing partnership, having previously collaborated on training workshops in Southern Africa, the Indian Ocean, and the Great Lakes regions. These workshops have helped young graduates build practical IT skills and improve their chances of success in the job market.
Linux Professional Institute (LPI) is the global certification standard and career support organization for open source professionals. With more than 350,000 certification holders, it’s the world’s first and largest vendor-neutral Linux and open source certification body. LPI has certified professionals in over 180 countries, delivers exams in multiple languages, and has hundreds of training partners. To learn more about Linux Professional Institute, visit lpi.org
