On March 28, 2025, I had the privilege of attending in person the Cyber Security Challenge Greece 2025 (CSCGR), a national Capture The Flag (CTF) competition hosted across three cities: Athens, Thessaloniki, and Patras. The event was a dynamic and inspiring celebration of young cybersecurity talent. As a proud sponsor, LPI was thrilled to support the initiative and help spotlight the next generation of open source and cybersecurity professionals.
The competition brought together students from universities across Greece — young talents passionate about cybersecurity and ethical hacking. A special thanks goes to Anne-Claire Dalle and the organizing team for managing such a well-coordinated multi-hub event. It was also great to collaborate with our local LPI partner and see such strong engagement from the Greek community.
Our LPI presence included providing Linux Essentials exam vouchers as prizes, which were awarded to the second-place winners — Team Competitive Geeks from Patras:
Congratulations to all of them for their outstanding teamwork and performance!
This event aligns perfectly with LPI’s mission to empower students and emerging professionals through open source education and certification. Cybersecurity is a growing field with enormous relevance today (both in home and small offices, and in any big firm and organization), and it was incredible to see such dedication and enthusiasm from the participating teams. These students aren’t just learning; they’re solving real-world problems, collaborating under pressure, and building the future of secure digital infrastructure.
We’re grateful for the opportunity to be involved and are already looking ahead to next year. I’d also encourage other organizations to support this initiative — it’s more than a competition; it’s a learning ecosystem.
It was also great to connect with representatives from René Descartes College, one of our Academic Partners starting last year, who joined us at the event as supporters. You can find photos from the event across all three venues — Athens, Patras (where our Member and Approved Trainer Christophoros Pliatsikas managed the local session), and Thessaloniki — in the official photo gallery.
If you’re interested in becoming an LPI-certified educator, explore our Partner Programs for organizations, businesses, or individual trainers; or visit the Learning Portal for study resources and certification paths.
If you’re reading this and curious about open source certification in the cybersecurity field: let’s connect! See you at the next event!
