FOSSASIA '25: LPI Advances Collaboration on Linux and FOSS

The future of open tech isn’t coming: it’s already here! It speaks many languages—and it meets in Bangkok. At FOSSASIA Summit 2025, the Linux Professional Institute (LPI) was right there in the thick of it.

FOSSASIA 2025, held from March 13–15 at True Digital Park in Bangkok, Thailand, once again proved to be one of Asia’s most dynamic gatherings for open-source advocates, developers, and thought leaders. With over 170 speakers and more than 200 sessions on everything from AI and cloud to open hardware and DevOps, the summit buzzed with collaboration and innovation.
LPI was proud to participate, engage, and help strengthen the global movement for open technologies.

Empowering Professionals Through Certification

At the summit, LPI welcomed hundreds of attendees at its booth, offering exclusive insights into its certification programs, which are recognized globally as a benchmark for open-source competency. As part of its summit campaign, LPI offered a 20% discount on certification exams, encouraging developers and students alike to take their careers to the next level through internationally respected credentials such as LPIC-1, LPIC-2, and Linux Essentials.

Regional Partnerships: Jolly Villaviza & Kenji Ito Strengthen LPI APAC Ties

A key development during the summit was the strategic collaboration between Jolly Villaviza, an open-source advocate who works as the Partner Development Executive and Partner Success Support for LPI APAC (except Japan), and Kenji Ito, representing LPI APAC & Japan.

Their conversations centered on expanding LPI’s reach in Southeast Asia by supporting grassroots efforts, creating training partnerships, and making certifications more accessible to underrepresented communities in tech.

“Our continued collaboration and event partnership with FOSSAsia opens up meaningful certification and career opportunities for Asian IT professionals locally and globally,” said Jolly Villaviza.
“Working with Asian Channel and Community Partners and leads allows us to connect LPI’s global mission with real, local and even global impact,” added Kenji Ito.

Thank You, FOSSASIA!

We extend our heartfelt gratitude to the FOSSASIA organizers and volunteers for hosting such an inclusive, well-organized, and vibrant event. From hands-on demos to deeply technical talks, the summit created the perfect atmosphere for sharing knowledge and forging new partnerships. We especially thank Hong Phuc Dang for inviting us and supporting LPI’s successful participation in the event. FOSSASIA 2025 reflected the best of the open-source community—diverse, passionate, and future-focused. We’re honored to have been part of it and look forward to continuing the momentum.
