LPI at FOSDEM 2026: Privacy, Sovereignty, and Post-Quantum Open Source
  • February 1, 2026
  • ULB Campus, Brussels, Belgium

Linux Professional Institute (LPI) will be present at FOSDEM 2026 without an official booth, but very much on site through its community and one of its most recognisable voices.

Jon “maddog” Hall, Chairman Emeritus of LPI, will deliver a talk titled “Privacy and Sovereignty in a Post Quantum Open World” as part of the Identity and Access Management developer room.

The session will take place on Sunday, February 1, from 11:05 to 11:35, in Room H.2214. The talk will explore the impact of post-quantum computing on encryption, digital sovereignty, and why open source systems remain essential for security, transparency, and control.

FOSDEM is one of the most important free and open source software events in the world, bringing together thousands of developers, contributors, and organisations every year in Brussels. Even without a booth, LPI will be easy to spot, including through a special on-site exam discount worn proudly during the event. If you are curious, come to FOSDEM and ask! If you need assistance in retrieving your discount, please contact us.

Meet us in the corridors, attend the talk, and say hello!
