Our response to COVID-19 (Coronavirus)

In order to slow down the spread of COVID-19 (coronavirus), policies around the world have been enacted that may affect your ability to take Linux Professional Institute (LPI) exams or renew your certification status. Because your health and safety are most important, we have made some temporary changes to our policies to reduce the impact on our community:

  • Any certifications that were scheduled to change to inactive status in 2021 were extended to December 31, 2021.
  • A number of LPI exam labs have been cancelled, in some cases because their host event was also cancelled. Registered exam-takers will receive replacement vouchers, and when possible labs will be rescheduled.
  • LPI offers the Linux Essentials, LPIC-1 (101 and 102), LPIC-2 (201 and 202), and LPIC-3 (300, 303, 305, and 306) exams via the Pearson VUE OnVUE testing system. Candidates can write the exams and get certified from home. Additional languages will be made available as soon as possible. For further information go to our online testing page.

Our test-delivery partner, Pearson VUE, also maintains a COVID-19 web page that contains country-specific information about the status of its test centres and your ability to take LPI exams there. Note that in some locations Pearson Professional Centers (PPCs) may be closing but independently-run VUE test centres may still be in operation. Please take appropriate precautions if taking an exam at this time.
