LPI exams are delivered as a computer-based exam, around the world in thousands of secure Pearson VUE testing centers. All the steps for taking exams to earn your LPI certification are outlined below.
Sometimes, LPI exams are delivered onsite at Linux and Open Source events. In those instances, the exams are delivered as a paper test. The requirements for participating in this type of testing event is listed by the organization or event hosting the exam and may vary from the steps below.
1. Get an LPI ID
Your LPI ID number allows us to load your exam results into your account. You’ll also need it when signing up to take your exam.
2. Choose Program
Before you can study and test, you’ll need to choose either the Linux Essentials program or our LPIC professional certification track.
3. Review Policies
Please take a few moments to review LPI’s policies. They cover important topics such as exam re-takes and certification expiration.
4. Purchase Voucher
Exam vouchers are redeemed as payment when you schedule to take your exam. Vouchers are good for 12-months from date of purchase.
