LPI at Latinoware 2026: Talk, Student Video Projects, Prizes, and Exam Discount

Linux Professional Institute (LPI) is pleased to support and participate in Latinoware 2026, a premier event for free software and open technologies in Latin America. The FOSS event will take place October 14–16, 2026, in Iguazu Falls, Paraná, Brazil.

Now in its 23rd edition, the Latin American Congress on Free Software and Open Technologies brings together students, professors, professionals, developers, and open source enthusiasts to share knowledge, exchange ideas, explore open technologies, and strengthen the free and open source software (FOSS) community in Brazil and beyond.

LPI at Latinoware

As in all previous editions of Latinoware, LPI Board Chair Emeritus Jon “maddog” Hall will participate in this year’s event. He will present, sharing his vision for the future of digital freedom, with a focus on free hardware. Latinoware participants can meet and have a chat with him.

Juan Ibarra Báez, Global Partner Success Manager at Linux Professional Institute, will also represent LPI at the event.

Student Video Contest

As part of LPI’s support for the open source community in Brazil, LPI supported a student video contest organized by SENAC in late August. The contest challenged students to create videos demonstrating free software projects and exploring why people might be interested in the solutions they offer and how students could use them to make money working part time while they attend university.

The winner(s) of the contest will be announced at Latinoware 2026 on October 14. LPI Board Chair Emeritus Jon “maddog” Hall will join the winners on stage during the event. Prizes include LPI exam vouchers and exam discounts.
