This August marked a very special milestone: the 20th edition of the Free and Open Source Software Conference (FrOSCon) at the University of Applied Sciences Bonn-Rhein-Sieg (Germany)! And while that in itself is reason to celebrate, we at the Linux Professional Institute (LPI) are especially proud of one fact: we are the only exhibitor who has been there every single year. From the very beginning to year twenty, we’ve never missed it, and we are delighted that this tradition continues.
For us, FrOSCon is a place to engage with the open source community, where we can have interesting conversations and exchange knowledge and ideas. One of our favorite traditions is offering paper-based exams (PBTs) at a special discounted rate during the event. This year was no different — and we’re always glad to see many attendees make use of this opportunity.
Once again, we had lots of inspiring conversations at our booth, meeting both long-time friends and new community members. We’re happy to count FrOSCon among our long-standing community partners and look forward to continuing this relationship in the future.
A special thank-you goes out to Reiner Brandt (OSC – Open Source Certification GmbH), Michael Gisbers (Linux-Schmie.de), and Dirk Streubel for their great support at the event. Your commitment helped make this year’s FrOSCon another rewarding experience.
And of course, we also want to extend a heartfelt thank-you to the entire FrOSCon team. We know how much volunteer work, dedication, and personal commitment it takes to organize such a conference year after year — and it truly shows in the quality and spirit of the event.
Looking ahead, we’re already excited for the next edition. On August 15 and 16, 2026, we’ll be back at FrOSCon — with our booth, discounted exams, and the same enthusiasm to meet the community. We look forward to seeing you there!
